CYMS Spring Track: We had a great turn out for the first week of track practices. This season promises to be a good one with the goal of reclaiming the district title!

Registration will remain open through Spring Break, so it is not too late to register! Come be a part of our amazing team. The final registration date is Tuesday, April 2nd.

Registration

8th Grade Fundraisers: Thank you to everyone who came out to the last 8th grade fundraiser at MOD Pizza this week. Together we raised $187.75 for the 8th grade promotion & celebration. Our next and final restaurant fundraiser for the 8th grade class is the day students return from Spring Break, April 2nd, from 4:00 to 8:00 pm.

8th grade Pictures: 8th grade spring portraits are coming up on April 3rd! These spring photos will be used for the yearbook and are a great way to see the changes and maturity in your student over the year. Additionally, our 8th graders will sit for a whole class panoramic photo. Please note that individual and group photo orders must be placed separately.

Place orders at mylifetouch.com

Individual Order ID: EVTCPQZFK

Group Picture Order ID: FO013013T0    (First O is a letter, the rest are zeros)

Allergy Season: As we head into spring, we welcome sunshine, flowers, and Willamette Valley seasonal allergies. After a tough cold and flu season, our tissue supply is critically low. Typically, allergy season is just as intense for our students’ needs for a tissue or twenty throughout the school day.

Please consider helping us make it through allergy season with a donation of a box of tissue. Donations can be dropped off in the front office.

Movie Night: The votes are in! Our feature film will be “The Goonies”. Students are invited to join us for a picnic style movie night on Friday, April 5th. Students are encouraged to bring a pillow, blanket, or chair to get comfy while they watch!

Doors open at 6:30 pm and will close to late entry at 7:10 to allow for an enjoyable movie experience for all.

Entry is $5. Prepaid tickets include a beverage and a popcorn! Tickets can be pre-purchased online at https://www.schoolpay.com/pay/for/CYMS-Movie-Night-Tickets/ScH0CQB for card transactions. Students will have an opportunity to pre-purchase tickets with cash during their lunch period on April 4th & 5th. Scholarships are available. Please contact Ms. Alexis at Krivchuk_a@4j.lane.edu for scholarship information.

From the District:

4J Golden Apple Awards: Nominate a valued 4J staff member or volunteer TODAY!

Eugene School District 4J proudly presents the Golden Apple Awards (formerly ACE Awards)—a chance for you to nominate that outstanding staff member or volunteer who makes a difference in your child’s education.

Whether it’s an inspiring teacher, a caring education assistant, an empathetic counselor, a welcoming school secretary, an encouraging bus driver, an attentive custodian, a principal who leads by example, or a volunteer to tirelessly supports school activities, now is the time to shine a spotlight on their dedication and passion.

Nominate today and let’s show our appreciation for those who help our children grow and thrive. To learn more and nominate a 4J employee or volunteer, visit 4j.lane.edu/goldenapple. The nomination deadline is March 31. If you have questions or need assistance, please contact 4J Communications at info@4j.lane.edu

Yellow Jackets: Every summer, yellow jackets become a safety issue for 4J students, staff, and community members, requiring hazardous nest removal, extensive labor, and occasional pesticide treatments. As a preventative measure, 4J Facilities will be placing non-toxic pheromone yellow jacket traps out at schools to reduce the number of colonies that are established on campuses annually.

Though these traps are intrinsically safe for staff, students, and beneficial pollinators, they are considered a pesticide by ODA and the district is required to send out notifications, just as with other pesticide applications. All schools are part of this program. Please click here for more information.

Attendance Line: Please contact the Cal Young attendance phone line at 541-790-6454 to excuse your student due to illness or other excused absence. Students who come in to school late will need a medical note or other contact from the parent to excuse the tardy.
