Currently 6th and 8th graders have separate Language Arts and Social Studies/Literacy courses. 7th grade students have LA/SS Block classes. For the 2020-2021 school year, 6th grade students will also have LA/SS Block classes with 8th grade students coming on board with LA/SS Block classes in 2021-2022.

7th Grade Language Arts/Social Studies Block – Our focus is on Literacy and building connections with our students. We are committed to helping our students succeed with the partnership with guardians. Block teachers combine writing, reading and speaking with all of our content in Block. Throughout the year we focus on literary devices and reading strategies to help increase comprehension. We have two class periods with one group of students every day. This chunk of time allows Block teachers to get to know our students better and find ways to support these students more effectively as well.

English: Read novels (Long Walk to Water, Weedflower, Seedfolks) and many short stories.

World Studies: Eastern Hemisphere (Europe, China, Japan, Africa) and geography skills.
