8th Grade Updates:

Promotion: The date for 8th grade promotion as well as the end of the year celebration have switched! Due to a scheduling conflict, the 8th grade celebration field day, with a trip to Eugene Swim & Tennis Club has been moved to Thursday, June 13th. The promotion ceremony and celebration will now take place on the last day of school, Friday, June 14th.

Baby Picture: Parents, please submit a toddler photo of your 8th grade student. This will be used for the 8th grade promotion and their promotion breakfast slide show.. Submit your student’s photo HERE!

Sheldon Athletics: Click here for information about Sheldon Athletics for all interested 8th grade athletes!

Preferred Name: Promotion materials are coming together and we need your help to ensure we get things right! Our default for students is to use their full legal name for all upcoming promotion materials. However, we recognize that some students and their families may have a preference to use a name other than their full legal. If you would like your student’s name altered for promotion materials or how their name is read when they cross the stage, please email Krivchuk_a@4j.lane.edu no later than May 31.

Examples: Christopher Mitchell to Chris Mitchell  | Destiny Cyrus to Miley Cyrus | Christopher Kutcher to Ashton Kutcher | Alecia Moore to P!nk | Matthew Myers to Matt Myers

Marine Biology Field Trip Opportunity: A Marine Biology Field Trip to Newport, Oregon is being offered on Friday, May 31.

Students will travel to the Hatfield Marine Science Center in Newport, Oregon. While there, they will participate in a rocky intertidal lab, where they will discover the rocky intertidal habitat and the diverse creatures that live there. We will also travel to the beach, where students will have an opportunity to experience our beautiful coast environment.

This field trip is open to all students, but space is limited, so sign up now! Field trip forms are available in the front office and should be returned to Ms. Connors in room 212. Spots are secured in the order completed permission slips are received. The cost for this trip is $12 and scholarships are available. All payments should be made directly to Ms. Alexis in the office.

We need 8 parent chaperones to join. Chaperones must have a current 4J background check on file. Please contact Sara Connors at Connors_s@4j.lane.edu if you have questions or are interested in being a chaperone.

Yearbooks: The deadline to order a yearbook for your student is fast approaching. Friday, May 10th is the final day to order a 2023-24 yearbook for your student. Cost for a yearbook is $25 and can be done online or by bringing cash or check to the front office before the deadline. Partial and full scholarships are still available. We do not want finances to be a barrier!

Payments, scholarship requests, and scholarship donations can all be done HERE!

Yearbook signing day will be in the final week of school.
