Walk+Roll To School

On October 8th, our school is participating in the Walk+Roll to School Challenge. We're asking every family to use active transportation like walking, biking, scooting, skating, or shared transportation like the bus or carpooling to improve students' health, learning, and independence. Bonus: This also improves student safety and traffic around our school and our impact on the environment!

We have great prizes to encourage our students to participate!

If driving is your only option, you could "Park & Stride" by parking a short walk away from school and walking with your child the rest of the way. Students who ride the bus, carpool, or park and strive are still able to enter the raffle for prizes.

Parent Group Meeting Recap

If you were unable to make last evening's parent group meeting, here are the presentation slides we reviewed: CYMS Parent Group Meeting - October 2nd, 2025

If you are interested in volunteering at Cal Young, please take a look at the last 3 slides for information. You can even click on links to sign up. Please make sure you have completed the Volunteer Background Check requirements in advance. The link for the volunteer application is included on one of those slides. We want Cal Young to be a community middle school with strong connections with our families!

Parent Group Transition to CY PTO

The CYMS Parent Group is transitioning into an official CY PTO. This will allow the PTO to be a separate entity from Cal Young or the 4J school district, and it will be beneficial for a variety of reasons. If you would like to learn more, or you are interested in being a part of the planning for the PTO, the group is having a Business Work Session on Wednesday, October 8th at 10am in the CYMS Library.

Sheldon Football Games

Dear Sheldon Region Community and Neighboring Communities,

We appreciate the community support and enthusiasm for our Sheldon Football games. Your presence not only adds to the excitement of the games but also helps build a strong sense of community as we come together to celebrate our outstanding student athletes.

However, there is a history of challenges related to student behavior, primarily from our younger attendees who often attend without parent supervision during the games. Therefore, for the remaining 2025 season, Sheldon will require parental supervision of middle school and younger students attending our home varsity games.

**Supervised Attendance for Middle School and Under Students:**
To enhance safety and the overall experience for our younger community members, middle school-aged and under students are required to be accompanied by their parents or another responsible adult. We believe this measure will ensure that our younger fans have the guidance and support they need to enjoy the games responsibly. Students without their parents or another responsible adult will not be allowed into Friday Night Football Games.

We firmly believe this measure will create a safe environment for everyone who attends our Friday night football games.

We value your support and participation in our community events, and we look forward to seeing you at our upcoming games. Let us come together to celebrate our local student athletes, build lasting connections, and ensure that these events remain a source of pride and unity for years to come.

We greatly appreciate your understanding and cooperation as we work together to enhance the experience for all members of our community.

Thank you for being a part of our vibrant and close-knit community.

GO IRISH!
