Yearbook Deadline Approaching

Now is your chance to reserve a yearbook for your student! The yearbook will be full of fun Cal Young memories and photos from events throughout the year. The order deadline is Thursday, April 17th!

The cost for a yearbook is $30. Scholarships are available. If you would like to support others by sponsoring a student in need, we encourage you to make a yearbook donation to cover a scholarship.

Purchases, scholarship requests, and donations can all be done through School Pay or by contacting Ms. Alexis at krivchuk_a@4j.lane.edu or calling 541-790-6414. Cash & checks are also accepted in the front office.

Not sure if you've already purchased? You can check your previous orders on your SchoolPay account, contact Ms. Alexis, or your student can check the posted list of yearbooks reserved.

Yearbooks will be distributed at 8th grade promotion (8th graders only) and on the last day of school. Students will have opportunities throughout the day on the last day of school dedicated to yearbook signing time.

8th Grade Trip to Sheldon

Attention 8th grade parents:
Before spring break your student received a permission slip in their Science class to attend a field trip to Sheldon. This is a field trip that is open to all 8th graders regardless if they plan on attending Sheldon. This field trip will take place on May 19th. During this field trip they will hear from Sheldon students and staff. Tour the school while classes are in session. Have a meal in the Sheldon cafeteria and learn more about what Sheldon offers. In order for your student to be able to attend they must return the permission slip signed by their parent/guardian by Wednesday, April 16. It can be turned in to their Science teacher or the front office.

Quarter 3 Ends- Supply Restock Time

This week is the final week of the third quarter. Many students are finding themselves short on their consumable supplies. The pens, pencils, and highlighters that started the year with them may no longer be around or barely hanging on to functionality. In particular, we have seen a specific uptick in students needing to "borrow" pencils. While the school does keep a supply on hand, we are running through them at an alarming rate. Please take a moment in the coming week to go over your student's school supplies with them and replace as needed.

If your family is in need of support in refreshing your student's supplies, please contact Ms. Alexis at krivchuk_a@4j.lane.edu or 541-790-6414.

Allergy Season Is Coming

As the weather turns warmer, the Willamette Valley brings us the joys of spring sniffles and itchy eyes.

As your family stocks up on tissues for the upcoming case of the sneezes, please consider donating a box or two to Cal Young. As the pollen count rises, so does the use of tissues!

Please remember that any allergy medication must be checked in through the health room. Forms for both daily and as needed medications are available in the front office.

SEED Survey

The SEED Survey is a short, optional student survey designed to gather information about the educational experiences of students in Oregon. It gives ODE, districts, and schools access to student voice, data regarding local investments, and additional insight into other state and local data. See link for more information: https://4j.lane.edu/seed
  • Purpose of the SEED Survey
  • Hear directly from students about their experiences
  • Provide Oregon districts with actionable data regarding investments used to increase student group outcomes
  • Better interpret state and local test results
  • Expand reporting beyond test scores

School Transportation Survey: We Want to Hear From You!

In partnership with the City of Eugene, we’re asking all parents and guardians to take a few minutes to fill out a brief survey about your child’s daily commute to school. Your feedback will help us better understand transportation needs and improve options for all families. The survey is quick, confidential, and your responses will remain anonymous.
As a thank you, everyone who completes the survey by April 20 will be entered into the City of Eugene’s random drawing for a chance to win one of twelve $25 gift cards! Please take a moment to share your thoughts by filling out the survey here: School Transportation Survey. Your input is invaluable and we appreciate your time!

Yellow Jacket Traps

Spring is upon us, and it’s time once again for Facilities to commence preventative yellow jacket trapping efforts. Over the next month, we will be refreshing the 10-week attractant in existing traps, and replacing any traps that have been lost throughout the last year.
