Week on of the track & field season is in the books. 182 students have joined us for this fun filled season. If your student is interested in joining, it isn't too late to register. Sign ups are still open online.

Volleyball on court
Student vs Staff Volleyball Game
Our student vs staff volleyball game is this Wednesday, March 12th. Join us for a fun filled evening as the 8th grade class takes on the Cal Young staff, with guest appearances from some elementary teachers as well!

All families are invited and encouraged to attend!

  • Doors open at 5:00
  • Game starts at 6:00
  • Entry is $3/Adult, $2/Student, or $10/Family -- Children 5 & under are free
  • Concessions are available
Spectator Participation Opportunities:
  • Purchase points for either team for $1/point
  • Enjoy in-game add-ons by adding to the pot to unlock special twists to the game like: Penalty Box (make a staff player sit out), Jumping Jacks, one hand round, have a staff member don a tutu for a set

8th Grade Transition
As we enter into March and transition to the spring, 8th grade parents are encouraged to stay up to date with our 8th grade information page. Below are a few of the upcoming dates families should note:

  • March 10th – Forecasting: Sheldon staff visit math classes to explain class selection process
  • March 12th -- Student vs Staff Volleyball Game 6:00 pm
  • March 13th – Parent Info Night at Sheldon, time TBD
  • March 17th – Forecasting: Students meet with counselors one-on-one to complete forecasting process
Additionally, we ask 8th grade parents to take a moment and submit a baby or toddler photo of your student for use in promotion fun!

Yearbook Ordering
Each year our Cal Young students put together a high quality yearbook. Distributed in the final week of school, students then are given time for yearbook signings. Be sure to reserve a copy for your student!

A list will be posted on Monday morning for students to check to see if they have already purchased and reserved a yearbook for the 2024/25 school year.

Yearbook order deadline is April 17th.

Cost of a yearbook is $30.

Who do you appreciate? An inspiring teacher? An encouraging classified employee? An administrator who leads by example? An amazing volunteer who gives their all? Now is the time to recognize their contributions. Employees also can be nominated for the new Apple Seed award for early-career staff, the Lifetime Achievement award or the 4J Spotlight award (for individuals or teams).

NEW! Internet Safety Video Series. As part of our district's ongoing commitment to student safety and well-being, we’re excited to introduce SCREEN SENSE—a five-part video series created in partnership with the University of Oregon. The 3-minute videos are designed to help families navigate the ever-changing digital landscape and support safe, healthy internet use for school-aged children.
