O.B.O.B. Volunteers Needed
|
The Oregon Battle of the Books (OBOB) is a statewide voluntary reading motivation and comprehension program sponsored by the Oregon Association of School Libraries in conjunction with a Library Services and Technology Act grant. Students in 3rd-12th grade, regardless of ability, are exposed to quality literature representing a variety of literary styles and viewpoints.
OBOB’s mission is to encourage and recognize students who enjoy reading, to broaden reading interests, to increase reading comprehension, promote academic excellence, and to promote cooperative learning and teamwork among students.
Thank you for considering volunteering for OBOB. As the new Library Specialist I looking forward to making new connects with our Cal Young community.
If you have questions my email address is: hopkins_j@4j.lane.edu
3 volunteers 1- co-coordinator
This position would help coordinate our lunch and FLEX study sessions, materials, and help with planning activities. Help with coordinating, moderating mock and game battles, prep for the games. Possibly, other misc fun things that may come up. It's super fun and the students will appreciate your help.
What it would look like: Tracking teams, helping me come up with fun activities to promote knowledge of the books, creating the bracket play schedule, semi finals and finals, totaling points. Help with creation of a t-shirt for our winning team. This position will work closely with me in running the program, if you are not familiar with OBOB it's ok.

School Choice Season is Here
|
School choice season for the 2025–26 school year is here.
In Eugene School District 4J, every school offers students excellent educational opportunities. Students may enroll in their neighborhood school at any time or request to enroll in a different 4J school for 2025-26 school year during the month of January. School choice requests are accepted in an order determined by lottery. To be included in the annual school choice lottery, 4J residents must submit a request between January 1–31. Families are invited to explore their school choice options, including their neighborhood school, during the January school choice period.
Residents living outside of our district’s boundaries who want their child to attend a 4J school next year apply later, March 1–31.
